Every Once In Awhile…

This submission is from a very kind friend. We are so honoured to have met Mark Canning. He is an intelligent and dependable citizen. Our family would follow him, and his common sense to the ends of the earth. Our government could learn much from this man. Thanks for your words Mark. Every once in awhile you meet people who are just nice. They don't have any agenda, they are unassuming and don't want anything from you. Carin and Paul are those kinds of people. I met Carin by chance through a friend of mine who was doing my social media…

Reflections of a Hopeful Leaf Fan

My better half has decided it is time to come clean about why he is such an adamant Toronto Maple Leaf hockey fan. This is a full time fan-ship and not to be taken lightly. I'm as curious to find out as you are. Thanks for your contribution honey! I’ve never been a fan of roller coasters, so my loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs is a bit of a mystery, even to me. Ever since I could remember I have been a fan and I know I always will be. This loyalty has been a source of stress and…

Making a Long Story Short…

Here is a very cool video ...of my little brother setting up the Christmas tree with his lovely other half Cheryl. Very interesting use of time-lapse videography.  I see that Facebook now allows us to embed video in our posts. Not too bad and a nice option to have. Post by Kevin Mackenzie.

Old World Traditional Meets Modern Christmas Décor

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Rosita at a marketing company this year. We collaborated on content and layout for websites for small businesses. Thanks for your contribution Rosita. I was excited to have her prepare a post for eclecticSoapbox.com today. ‘Twas the Week Before Christmas…

A very good friend - Diana H., shares with us her Christmas decorating ideas. This is one crazy busy lady with four boys and a brand new job. Let's hope she finds some time to relax and enjoy all this hard work. Thanks for contributing Diana! Merry Christmas to you too! I cannot believe that it is exactly a week until Christmas! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been a little bit busy. Who am I kidding? It’s been as crazy as last year’s ice storm and I AM LOVING IT! This is my favourite time of year. All…

Saying Goodbye to Survivor’s Guilt

It seems to me to have been a very sad year for some. Many friends have lost family members in 2014. One such friend of mine - Bev F. lost her mother recently. They had a very close and loving relationship and this will be the first Christmas without her. Bev is surrounded by many friends and family who love her and will be able to comfort each other during this difficult transition. I met with Bev today and we chatted about how this Christmas would be for her. She and her family had been attending a five week grief support group. Some of us…

Amanda on Christmas Tree Traditions

It is exactly 2.5 weeks away from Christmas. This past weekend, my fiance and I went and picked out our Christmas tree, a tradition that has been in my family for more than 50 years. Since I've been around in my 28 years, every Christmas our whole family gets together (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) and we meet at the Christmas tree farm. Each family picks out a tree and then we all meet for brunch afterwards before we take them home to decorate. As years go by, families change. We have lost some family members and gained some. The past…
