I’ve just had the pleasure of watching an auditorium full of high school kids turn into Agents of Change. These future leaders came together with their teachers and school administration to donate a couple of dollars each for the pleasure of watching a movie together. Each kid in that audience learned that there are more than 36,000 kids in their region who rely on nutrition programs to eat at school or in community centres daily. toonies4tummies
In this post I’m going to give you the chance to donate to this program online three times. This is the first time – click the toonie:
If you live in Canada you probably think that as one of the wealthiest nations in the world our children don’t experience many hunger issues. You’d probably be shocked to know that approximately 1.1 million children rely on nutrition programs in school 5 days a week to eat during the school day. Believe it. The more I read the statistics the more shocked I am. Take a look at this infographic:
All money raised is distributed to the groups in each area responsible for the programs for them to decide how best to use it. Some places such as the high school my daughter attends offers breakfast and snacks while other places have lunches. There are many different set ups depending on the needs of your area. toonies4tummies

I feel I can passionately support this 2 week program because it is community based, funds raised stay in the area that donated them, and because we have such awesome corporate sponsors, 100% of all donations go to the program. As a matter of fact, my daughter was so impressed by the program that she decided to become a student ‘Agent of Change’ leading her school in raising money for the nutrition programs in our community.
There are 11 students total this year all working hard in their school boards to bring attention to this campaign and raise money for the programs in their area. It is a great way for youth to get involved and educated about the needs of their community PLUS it helps reduce the stigma of using these services. Students and teachers are encouraged to join in wherever the food is being offered for commaraderie and support. toonies4tummies
Are you ready yet? Here’s the second chance to make your donation: here – you can see exactly where the money goes there too.
On Valentine’s Day at her school they held a movie viewing in an attempt to raise money. Local businesses donated snacks in support of this great cause. I am so excited to announce that this amazing group of kids at Bowmanville Highschool raised $956! Plus the opportunity for them to spread the word on social media and to other people in their lives is priceless. toonies4tummies
Thanks to all the corporate sponsors for covering 100% of the administrative costs.
The campaign runs until February 23rd and you can donate in the local participating stores, online, or by buying some of these products from the corporate sponsors:
It’s just a toonie. Last chance in this post – donate here and 100% of the money you donate goes directly into food for this program in your area! How amazing is that?
It takes a village to raise a child and those children grow up to help raise other kids. Let’s give them the best chance they can have at becoming educated, responsible, and compassionate people.
Thanks for your contribution!
I am a compensated Social Media Ambassador for this campaign and am 100% committed to sharing my honest feelings about this program. It is an honour to work with the incredible team behind this charity. They do so much good for so many children and teens and that benefits us all. A big thanks to all of you at the Grocery Foundation plus all the other corporate sponsors, stores, social media people, school boards, tv and print media and every person who donates each single coin. Without all of you our country would be a very different place for our future leaders. toonies4tummies
